Safe Families for Children

Rock County Child Protective Services places an average of 200 children into foster care every year. Safe Families for Children (SFFC) Wisconsin is committed to reducing this number by empowering families in crisis through community and faith-based support.

In contrast to court-mandated foster care, SFFC is completely voluntary. It pairs families in crisis with community members to prevent child maltreatment, circumvent welfare placements and provide wrap-around family support.

Acts Housing

Acts Housing brought their successful Milwaukee-based program model to Beloit in 2019 to assist striving families in achieving their dream of home ownership. A true “hands-up” model, the organization partners with community members in an entrepreneurial style, giving participants support and coaching as they learn about and are empowered to build the skills necessary to support ownership.

At the conclusion of its Beloit initiative, Acts will have supported at least 150 families, increased ownership in the Merrill and Hackett neighborhoods and built a sustainable, viable, affordable homeownership market in Beloit for families with limited incomes.
